Chobe National Park
Afternoon Safari – seems like we got back from the morning safari, finally had breakfast, took a deep breath, had lunch and off we go again.
The mob at the entrance to the Lodge
On entry to the park, the first thing we saw was a band of mongooses. (yes it really is mongooses not mongeese, and band is the collective)
Another one ticked off the list!
Then guess who?
One thing I have noticed is how many different species of bird seem to pair off, in this case a spoonbill and an egret.
then a poor old water buffalo:
Meanwhile, danger lurked in the water
Maybe contemplating his chances against an elephant.
Not even an elephant in the mud
Or maybe he was contemplating a hippo
Except they had a lookout
After the crossing, the elephants have a tidemark…
Unless you are a baby and smaller than the depth of the water
In which case you need mum to push you along.
The alpha male elephant dribbles urine while walking to mark their territory. (Please no comments on this habit)
Then you take a photo of a giraffe beside the river, but when you review it, you realise the giraffe is bumpy.
Until you look closer…
One final pick of this magnificent creature
