Pottery Village

 

Still recovery from the cardio workout, next stop, after a quick trip down a bumpy dirt road is a traditional pottery village. This is not a tourist trap type village, but a real working pottery place.

Main output is stoves and bowls, all made by hand.

 

The darker stoves are coloured by rubbing ash into the pots.

The ash is created by burning rice husks.

The factory is definitely a family business.

 

Even the dog has a role.

I guess we also interrupted family meal time.

While we were in the store, discussing the technical details of how the pottery could be protected to prevent breakage during transport, up rolled the locals to show us how – stck 3 bowls inside each other, jump on a motor-bike, put on a straw helmet, and off you go…
