Our love affair with Vienna continues…
The weather has deteriorated – 22° and sunny when we arrived, 13° next, then 9° and raining
On the first day, the street cafes were thriving, later we were sole customers:
One of the tourist traps is horse and buggy rides, but even the horses look down in the rain
Then there was the pretty flower among the tulips:
One of the features of Vienna is the narrow streets, and so many of them are one way. At least with oneway streets, it is not so disconcerting when trying to figure out which direction the cars are coming from. Bikes come from any direction, and you don’t hear them coming. So far I have only been beeped at once, and that went along with a wagging finger. For a big city, many are remarkably empty.
The Winter Palace has been re-purposed many times in its history – including a stint as an office block with multiple partitions. Now it is being restored, and acts mainly as an art gallery, and cameras are barred in many rooms
At times Annie and I have different views on the world. As she headed straight to the dress shop, I commented “Isn’t the Ferrari beautiful” The blank look and “What Ferrari?” says it all.
Down a side street we saw an impressive looking dome:
On closer inspection, the entry to St Peter’s Catholic Church was not so impressive
Wanting to get out of the cold, we slipped inside to a totally stunning vista:
Charlie or Adolf?
