Picking Olives
Not really an option to pick olives by hand, and remember that olive trees live, and are fruitful, for hundreds of years.
One traditional method is to shake the trees, but the farm owners feel this has the potential to damage the trees, so they have developed a motorised ‘finger shaker’ that gently shakes the olives off the branches into a net.
The farm also grows a lot of vegetables. (One highlight of the trip has been the full flavour of the tomatoes).
Now, in my ignorance, I had always assumed that a loofah was from a sea creature. In fact it comes from a vegetable grown on a vine. It can be eaten (low in fat and cholesterol, high in Potassium) It can be dried, and the skin rubbed of to create the bath sponge.
Shetland Ponies
Now I thought they were cute little creatures. Everyone was patting them, and they seemed very happy. As everyone was leaving, the little white one cam over to me for a last pat. As I did so, he decided my big toe was a carrot, and took a bite. Fastest I have danced in a long while to get out of range. He didn’t look at all sorry.
After a wonderful meal, the night, as you would expect, finished with some traditional Greek dancing. Breaking of plates is now outlawed, so they threw paper napkins,
