Italy Day 6 – Masseria

Thursday June 20

A masseria is a fortified farmhouse or country house on an estate, dating back to the days of attacks by pirates or Turks.  These days it is an enticement to tourists to attack the food.

Part of the experience is the pre-dinner walk around the collection of cute farm animals.

First stop was the family chapel with nativity scene.

The cook seems to be judging his victims:

The dinner table is already laid out.

A view of the lands, though they said it extends much further, and in other directions.

Margherita and Maurissimo, our guide and driver.

Dinner was an endless parade of food. 12 entrees, 2 main courses, sweets and lemoncello to finish.
