Paris

Thursday 26th May

The morning was spent on an orientation tour of Paris, if that can really be done in a few hours

Then there was some free time in the Latin Quarter, an area full of narrow alleys and shops. It is also a major student area.

I also ran across an original Je suis charlie bit of graffiti.

One of the initiatives in Paris is electric bikes for hire, in half hour blocks. Charging stations are scattered around the city.

Some of us made better use of our time than others (chocolate crepes for lunch indeed!!)

After the free time, we met at the statue of Charlemagne for a tour of Notre Dame.

And some guys just attract all the birds…

Then on to the Eiffel Tower, built for an exhibition over a hundred years, and due to be pulled down after a few years. It is still probably the most iconic image of Paris.

We ascended to the second level, and the views are spectacular. I will leave it to you Pareephiles to pick your own landmarks.

After a quick trip back to the hotel to change, it is on to Moulin Rouge for dinner and show. (Sorry Dave – they don’t allow photos of the show). The numbers on each excursion are dropping, fatigue is setting in.

We had a front row seats (and I mean real front row). The centre stage butted up against our table. Very high energy and spectacular, particularly the roller skaters. Non stop for nearly three hours.

After the show, a final farewell for the few still standing, and a special thank you to Stephane – Murky Buckups mate.
