Venice – Lucerne

Monday 23rd May

Dunno – seem to have lost this day somewhere in the mist – long drive again with rain.

Still, some spectacular scenery along the way.

We also stopped at Giswil for a visit to a small, typical working Swiss farm, ensconsed in a small village with 6 families. By the size of the village, this is 6 extended families, not 6 households.

Their own ‘little’ family church.

The visit included a horse-drawn wagon tour of the village and surrounds.

Down to a bridge over the nearby river (now almost dry, but you can see where it flows and floods in heavy rain and melt runoff)

Then back to storage house for warming coffee, pastries, cheese and home made rose.

Finally on to Paxmontana hotel in the mountains (Eat your heart out kids!).
